Maaden’s Q1 profit more than doubles to SAR 638 mln

Saudi Arabian Mining Co.’s (Maaden) net profit more than doubled year-on-year (YoY) to SAR 638 million in Q1 2018, thanks to higher sales volumes of all products except for ammonia, higher realized prices and a rise in the company’s profit share from its affiliate Maaden Barrick Copper Co.

The company swung to net profit in the current quarter, compared to a net loss of SAR 104.7 million in Q4 2017, backed by lower finance costs, ongoing cost reduction, lower general, selling and administrative expenses as well as exploration costs.
