Saudi Ceramic’s FY16 net profit falls 91%

Saudi Ceramic Co., which produces sanitary ware and ceramics, reported a net profit of SAR 24.5 million for fiscal year 2016, 91 percent lower year-on-year (YoY) on a drop in sales due to lower local market demand as the number of projects in the kingdom declined.

 

The company also cited a decline in selling prices, higher financing and zakat expenses, and lower revenue.

In Q4, Saudi Ceramics swung to net loss of SAR 6 million, compared to a profit of SAR 55.7 million in the same quarter last year on the back of lower sales, less projects, a drop in selling prices, and higher financing costs this time around.

 

The company, however, narrowed its Q4 losses from the previous quarter as sales revenue grew and zakat expenses decreased. It also posted a SAR 25 million provision in Q3 against impairment from affiliate Ceramic Pipes Company.
