Alhokair Group swings to SAR 4 mln net loss in H1

Abdulmohsen Alhokair Group for Tourism and Development reported a net loss of SAR 4.4 million for H1 2018, compared to a net profit of SAR 22.8 million a year earlier, attributed to weak market demand from individual and corporate clients as well as fiercer market competition.

The company’s net profit for the second quarter plunged 79 percent year-on-year (Y-o-Y) to SAR 3 million due to low market demand, and a decline in the average daily room rate and occupancy rate.

 

Meanwhile, seasonality factors and a decrease in the company’s profit share from its joint venture also weighed on the quarterly figures.

 

The company turned profitable in Q2 from a net loss of SAR 7.5 million in Q1 2018, backed by improved revenue along with an increase in other revenue.
