Saudi Arabia's Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Al-Fadley announced that a Royal Decree was issued on the allocation of SAR 105 billion for water projects within the five-year capital portfolio of the environment, water and agriculture system.
The five-year capital portfolio includes 1,335 projects, Saudi Press Agency reported, citing Al-Fadley.
He added that the allocated amount represents the cost of the first package of the five-year capital portfolio, noting that this reflects the interest of the Kingdom’s leadership in the environment, water and agriculture system to improve services and maximize the benefit from sources and assets.
This goes in line with the National Water Strategy and aims to achieve the ministry's objectives that include developing and preserving water resources as well as protecting the environment and providing safe supply, high quality and efficient services, the minister said.
He added that the move contributes to the achievement of economic and social development witnessed by the Kingdom, in line with Vision 2030.
