GACA spokesperson Ibrahem Alrwosa
The General Authority of Civil Aviation’s (GACA) strategy aims to double the number of passengers and destinations to 330 million and 250, respectively, by 2030, Ibrahem Alrwosa, spokesperson for GACA, told Argaam on the sidelines of the Future Aviation Forum 2022 held in Riyadh.
In addition, the Kingdom aims to increase cargo capacity to 4.5 million tons by 2030.
“This comes amid promising investment opportunities between the public and private sectors,” he noted.
The Kingdom motivates countries and calls on people to take measures to help the aviation industry return to 2019 levels, considering that 2019 is the baseline, the spokesperson said.
He noted that aviation is part of people’s renaissance and societies’ development.
Commenting on the performance of the local aviation sector, the top official said the number of passengers decreased in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, indicating that the number of passengers reached nearly 100 million in 2019.
“The sector is currently witnessing a return to close levels,” Alrwosa said.
He said that the sector is recovering rapidly.
“We hope further recovery at a rapid pace, which contributes to the recovery of economic activities and development of the sector,” Alrwosa added.
