Prices of 129 Saudi goods, services rise in February

Prices of 30 goods and services in Saudi Arabia decreased year-on-year (YoY) in February 2022, while prices of 129 out of 166 goods and services rose, data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.

 

Out of the 91 food products, local tomatoes recorded the biggest rise by 37.96% YoY, followed by fresh local milk with a 31.35% increase YoY.

 

On the other hand, Indian cardamom and American cardamom saw the steepest decline YoY at 18.26% and 13.33%, respectively.

 

Meanwhile, prices of 31 construction materials increased YoY in February, while the remaining seven materials saw declines during the same month.

 

Prices of all 11 fodder and livestock products increased YoY during the month.

 

For clothes, three items saw an increase in prices last month, while the remaining six strongly declined.

 

Two out of four personal services saw a YoY rise in February.

 

Prices of all four detergents increased last month compared to the same period a year earlier.

 

Elsewhere, all three healthcare services were up in the same period.

 

Similarly, prices of one out of two services under the maintenance and repair of personal means of transportation grew in February YoY.

 

Prices of one out of two hotel and furnished apartment services rose on an annual basis in February.

 

Under tobacco, prices of Marlboro cigarettes increased by 0.61% per pack YoY.
