SCCC plans expansion beyond Riyadh as Saudi cloud market grows

Talal AlBakr, CEO of Saudi Cloud Computing Company (SCCC), said the company is currently focused on the Saudi market due to its rapid growth compared to other markets in the region. He added that the company's investments in the Kingdom are ongoing and increasing, with plans for expansion into other cities beyond Riyadh.

In an interview with Argaam on the sidelines of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF), AlBakr noted that demand for cloud computing services in Saudi Arabia is growing rapidly, especially after the launch of the Cloud-First Policy by the Digital Government Authority, which requires government entities to move 80% of their services to the cloud by 2030.

He highlighted that this shift has led to a significant increase in demand for the company’s cloud services, helping reduce costs and accelerate the launch of both government and private sector services.

Regarding the market size, AlBakr mentioned that studies predict the Saudi cloud computing market will reach $7 billion by 2030, with an annual growth rate of about 16.8%.

He added that the company has launched several new services enabling users to build AI-driven applications and data analytics, with a focus on simplifying access to these technologies without the need for complex infrastructure. SCCC provides its cloud services through data centers located within the kingdom.

AlBakr explained that SCCC, established two and a half years ago, is a joint venture between stc, Alibaba Cloud, ewpartners, and Sky & Site. The company focuses on offering infrastructure, platform, and software services, in addition to generative AI technologies and data analytics solutions to support decision-making and launch innovative programs.

He noted that SCCC offers integrated services, including system migration and management for clients, with specialized local teams providing technical support and data solutions. The company aims to continue strengthening its position as a leading cloud service provider in the Kingdom.
