Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, Spokesperson for the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen
Brigadier General Turki Al-Maliki, Spokesperson for the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen, said Iran-backed terrorist Houthi militia escalated yesterday evening and dawn today its hostile cross-border attacks towards the Kingdom, targeting civilian objects and economic facilities in a systematic and deliberate manner.
He added that these vicious attacks mark a dangerous escalation, expressing the terrorist Houthi militia’s position against the invitation of the Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf for hosting peace talks between all Yemeni parties, Saudi Press Agency reported.
In addition, the attacks show the militia’s position of rejecting all international efforts, including Saudi Arabia’s initiative to end the Yemeni crisis and reach a comprehensive and sustainable political solution.
The Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces and the Royal Saudi Air Force intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched to target Jazan city. They also destroyed and shot down nine booby-trapped drones launched towards Jazan, Khamis Mushait, Taif, Yanbu and Dhahran Al-Janub, Al-Maliki said.
He added that the hostile attacks deliberately target civilian and economic objects protected under the International Humanitarian Law.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the militia uses Iranian cruise missiles, targeting Al Shuqaiq Water Desalination Plant and Aramco's distribution station in Jazan,” the Brigadier General said.
The target sites also included the power transmission station in Dhahran Al-Janub, the gas station of the National Gas and Industrialization Co. (GASCO) in Khamis Mushait, as well as the liquefied gas plant of Saudi Aramco in Yanbu.
“There are no human causalities,” Al-Maliki concluded.
