The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) released its report on internet speeds and digital content access speed in the Kingdom (Meqyas) for Q2 2020.

The report compared the speeds of service providers in the Kingdom through download, upload and 5G speeds, ranks the best performing operators in each region and covers the most commonly used applications and video games in the Kingdom.

It also included the number of governorates covered by 5G services.

Mobile Telecommunication Company Saudi Arabia (Zain Saudi) came in the first place in terms of fixed internet average download speed, with 103.25 Mbps.

STC came on top in terms of mobile internet average download speed with 66.23 Mbps.

For the 5G deployments across the Kingdom, Zain Saudi ranked 1st covering 27 governorates.

Elsewhere, Meqyas covered latency for most used social media platforms and most played video games in the Kingdom.

“Through the publication of Meqyas report, CITC aims to increase competition between service providers as well as transparency in the sector by providing data and indicators to investors and parties interested in the sector’s performance in the Kingdom,” the telecom regulator said.
