Over 7,000 factories complete self-assessment within Digital Maturity Index: Ministry

More than 7,000 factories in Saudi Arabia completed the digital maturity self-assessment to measure their readiness to implement automation as well as advanced industrial practices and solutions, according to the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources. 

This came within the Future Factories Program, which focuses on moving 4,000 factories away from relying on low-skilled workers to automation. 

The digital maturity self-assessment focused on a number of key perspectives, including production, supply chains, equipment automation, strategy and governance.

Factories capitalized at over SAR 1 billion registered the highest levels of digital maturity self-assessment, while factories capitalized at less than SAR 50 billion reported lower digital maturity self-assessment.

In July, the Ministry of Industry announced the launch of the Future Factories Program and the adoption of the Smart Industry Readiness Index (SIRI) methodology to assess the operational readiness of factories. The program aimed to transform 4,000 factories from relying on low-skilled workers to automation and manufacturing efficiency, Argaam reported.
