Northern Region Cement Co. incurred net losses of SAR 238,519 in the first nine months of 2018, versus net profit of SAR 37.54 million in year-earlier period, attributed to higher cost of finance on increased Saudi Arabian Interbank Offered Rate (SAIBOR)

The cement producer reported net profit of SAR 4.9 million in Q3, down 60.4 percent YoY, driven by lower selling prices at one of the company’s affiliates on fierce competition, and lower sales volumes in the local market.

 

When compared to the previous quarter, Northern Cement swung to profit, versus Net losses of SAR 6.69 million in Q2 2018, on profit generated from selling white cement.
