Savola's H1 net profit drops 37% to SAR 234 mln

Savola Group, Saudi Arabia’s largest food producer, reported a net profit of SAR 234.1 million for the first half of 2017, a 37 percent year-on-year (YoY) plunge that was attributed to lower gross profit on lower sales and margins in the retail sector and higher share of minority.

 

The drop is in spite of the non-recurring net positive impact of SAR 30 million due to recognition of dilution gain upon deconsolidation of United Sugar Company of Egypt (USCE), lower losses from USCE, lower finance costs, zakat and taxes.

On a quarterly basis, the profit for the current period compared with a net profit of SAR 4.8 million.
