Eastern Province Cement Co. reported a net profit of SAR 233 million for the fiscal year 2016, a decline of 30 percent year-on-year (YoY), due to a slump in cement sales, on lower local demand and fierce competition, in addition to higher production costs and an increase in power tariffs.

 

In addition, higher financing costs and a rise in selling, general, and administrative expenses weighed on the cement producer’s annual profit.
