Flynas has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Airbus to purchase 20 A321LR and A321XLR aircraft for a total value of SAR 9 billion.

Deliveries are scheduled to take place in 2023, the airline said in a statement on Thursday.

"The move enhances Flynas expansion strategy that targets new markets and destinations," said Ayed Al Jeaid, Chairman of Flynas.

The A321LR and A321XLR aircraft have an extended range of up 8,700 kilometers and offer 30 percent lower fuel consumption, chief executive officer Bander Al-Mohanna added.

Flynas plans to transport almost 5 million Umrah pilgrims annually, in line with the Saudi Vision 2030 that aims to have 30 million religious pilgrims.

Flynas also aims to open new markets and stations for passengers locally and overseas, Al-Mohanna added.
