The Saudi Ports Authority’s (Mawani) board of directors has decided to reduce the container handling fees at Yanbu Industrial Port by 57.5 percent, it said in a statement.
The decision also amended the free-of-charge storage period for empty containers obtained from the vessel’s owner or agent and, for both empty and full export/import containers for up to 30 days.
The ports authority also reduced the handling fees of empty containers from Jeddah Islamic Port to Yanbu port by 50 percent, in order to provide Saudi exports at the latter with empty containers.
The fees of various marine services for container ships were also reduced.
These decisions are seen to improve the link and integration between King Fahad Industrial Port in Yanbu, Jeddah Islamic Port and King Abdullah Port, in order to meet the expected demand on marine transport services amid growing export volumes.
The move aims at optimizing the utilization of ports’ infrastructure and capacity, to promote marine trade and facilitate the national export movement, in-line with Vision 2030.
