Saudi construction materials prices decline in Q1 2019

Prices of most construction materials in Saudi Arabia dropped in Q1 2019, led by cables, which fell 2.2 percent year-on-year (YoY), data issued by the Kingdom’s General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.

 

Steel and ready-mix concrete prices edged down 0.1 percent YoY each in Q1.

 

Meanwhile, cement prices increased by 0.3 percent YoY to SAR 13.08 per bag, while wood prices edged up 0.1 percent YoY.

Steel prices declined in January and February 2019, but increased by 5 percent YoY to SAR 2,687 per ton in March.

Cement prices retreated by 1 percent YoY to SAR 13.01 per bag (50 kilograms) in January and increased by 1 percent YoY in February and March 2019.
