Saudi Arabia’s Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) has completed its latest spectrum auction covering the 3.5 gigahertz (GHz) frequency band, the telecom regulator said in a statement.

No further details were revealed by the telecom regulator about the new frequencies awarded or payable fees.

Saudi Telecom Co. (STC), Etihad Etisalat Co. (Mobily) and Mobile Telecommunications Company Saudi Arabia (Zain Saudi), which had earlier received unified telecommunication licenses, bid for the new spectrum.

CITC offered 400 megahertz (MHz) within the 3.5GHz frequency band, with the total available spectrum across the Kingdom exceeding 1,100MHz, the statement said.

“Through this auction, the Saudi telecom regulator has achieved the target launch of the 5G technology ahead of 2020,” CITC added.
