ADNOC Refining has awarded a Pre-Front End Engineering and Designing (Pre-FEED) contract to Wood Group for a refining and petrochemicals complex in Ruwais, the state-owned oil giant said in a statement on Thursday.
The refinery, having a capacity of 600,000 barrels of crude oil per day, is designed to have full conversion capability and allow integration with petrochemicals industries in Ruwais.
The award of the contract, which is a key component of ADNOC's $45 billion expansionary downstream strategy, is the second stage in a four-stage process to get to the beginning of construction. The previous stage was a feasibility study with Pre-FEED expected to be completed by year-end.
