Saudi Arabia seeks technical consultants for sewage projects

Saudi Arabia's Water & Electricity Company (WEC) has issued a request for qualification (RFQ) on Monday for technical consultants to undertake a pre-feasibility study and assess project technologies related to small-scale sewage treatment plants (STPs).  

These STPs vary in size from 1,000 cubic meters (cu m) per day to 25,000 cu m per day and are located across the Kingdom.

The winning technical consultant will be required to support WEC in privatizing these small-scale STP projects. 

The scope of work includes GIS analysis, preparation of a pre-feasibility study based on selection of site visits besides providing support to the utility company in co-ordination with the relevant water sector stakeholders in Saudi Arabia and local or international potential developers.

The study will include the appropriate treatment technology for treated sewage effluent (TSE) reuse for the initial STPs and future expansion, said the company in a statement.

This study may be used to ensure compliance with standard international public-private partnership (PPP) requirements and procedures, as well as those prescribed by the National Centre for Privatization in Saudi Arabia, it stated.

The prequalified respondents will be announced on February 21, it added.
