Social insurance subscriptions drop 3% in Q4 2018: GOSI

Saudi Arabia’s General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) said that a total of 8.6 million private sector employees were registered in the social insurance scheme by the end of Q4 2018, a decline of 3 percent quarter-on-quarter (QoQ).

 

Insured citizens, which account for 20 percent of the total private sector subscribers, decreased by 14,900 clients to 1.7 million in Q4, compared to the previous quarter.

 

The number of insured expatriate workers also retreated by 233,100 clients QoQ to 6.89 million during the fourth quarter. They account for 80 percent of the Kingdom’s total private sector subscribers.

 

Region wise, Riyadh accounted for the largest number of insured workers at 3.2 million, or 37 percent of total subscribers.

 

The building and construction sector accounted for 38 percent of the total subscribers in Q4 with more than 3.26 million employees, while the commercial sector represented 25.5 percent or 2.19 million workers.
