Dubai-based Art Jameel, an independent organization that supports arts, education and heritage in the Middle East, has announced an international competition to conceptualize a cinema for Hayy: Creative Hub in Jeddah.

The competition invites proposals for the design of an innovative and independent picture house, with registrations closing on March 22.

Applicants will be required to submit a proposal by April 11 after the closure of the initial registration, the statement added.

One winner and two runners up will be announced at the end of the competition in June.

Hayy: Creative Hub is a 17,000 square meter development and Jeddah’s first home for the arts and creativity which aims to act as an incubator, bringing together and nurturing artists, playwrights, photographers, filmmakers, entrepreneurs and creatives. The hub is scheduled to open in 2020.
