Saudi Arabia’s has granted a company an investment license in the Red Sea area, in partnership with Sudan, Asharq Al-Awsat reported, citing Energy Minister Khalid Al-Falih, during the inauguration ceremony of a new scientific research vessel “Najil,” at Jubail Commercial Port in the Eastern Province.
The ship is equipped with the latest marine technology to carry out research work in the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea, and its crew’s responsibilities will include assessing fish stocks and studying the impact of climate change on marine ecosystems, he said.
“It is well known that seabed has mineral resources, including that of which a limited exploration program has proven in the Red Sea,” he said, adding that the vessel will be able to carry out very big maritime exploration activity.
