Tabuk Cement Co. is currently in talks with the Bangladesh government to export clinker to the Asian country, CNBC Arabia reported, citing the company’s chairman.
“We also mull exports to Jordan,” Saeed Obaid said.
The company’s clinker inventory stood at 1.2 million tons after exporting 6,950 tons of cement to Yemen.
Earlier this month, the Saudi cement producer inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with International Tataloat Co. Ltd. to export 600,000 tons of clinker and 150,000 tons of cement to Yemen.
Obaid also expected the company to swing to profitability before the end of 2019.
“The company is about to sign several deals with partners in Asia and Africa,” Obaid told Argaam in November, adding that demand from NEOM project and other mega projects may exceed local industry’s production capacity, as the company is well positioned to tap the market opportunity opened up by these projects.
