Saudi Arabia’s King Salman will inaugurate the Waad Al-Shamaal mining project on Thursday, said energy minister Khalid Al-Falih.
“Aimed at creating 10,000 jobs, the project costs SAR 85 billion ($22.7 billion) and is a part of an industrial scheme to open the Kingdom’s northern region to development,” Al-Falih said on Monday.
He also said that the Kingdom had launched a uranium exploration programme and initial indications were positive.
Al-Falih added that a project to construct two nuclear plants, was proceeding at an excellent pace according to plan, without giving any further details.
He also said that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman would participate in a G20 summit in Argentina at the end of the month.
