The UAE is on the path of becoming a self-sufficient gas producer in the coming years, the country’s Energy Minister and the President of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Suhail al-Mazrouei, said on Monday at ADIPEC 2018 in Abu Dhabi.
“The UAE will become a self-sufficient gas producer by 2030,” he said in a panel at the annual Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference, which brings together global energy leaders.
“By 2030, the country will be able to supply gas to local markets and keep some for export as well,” Al-Mazrouei added. “Half of the production will come from fossil fuels while the other half will be cleaner forms of energy.”
