Ride hailing applications generated an income of over SAR 2 billion in one year for Saudis working in the field, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported, citing Fawaz Al Sahli Public Transport Authority’s (PTA) vice president.
PTA is targeting double this figure in 2019 through stimulus programs for both agencies and drivers, he said during Wasl one-year anniversary event.
In a year period, the apps recorded 100 million trips in Saudi Arabia and 30 million work hours, transporting over 200 million passengers across 60 Saudi cities, he said.
Around 485,000 Saudis joined the car hailing business so far, he added.
Wasl web platform connects transport companies with the regulator in order to monitor their services and ensure their quality and safety.
