Saudi Ceramic Co.’s anti-dumping complaint against GCC imports from India, China and Spain will be investigated by the GCC Technical Secretariat to combat harmful practices in international trade, SCC said in a statement to Tadawul on Monday.
The complaint was filed by Saudi Ceramic, Al-Fanar Factory and other ceramic producers operating in the Kingdom and the GCC region.
The company urged the competent authority to impose temporary anti-dumping duties on tile and porcelain imports to offset the huge losses incurred by local and regional ceramic manufacturers, ahead of imposing the final levy later on.
The new measures would help ensure fair competition in the local and regional markets, and enable the Saudi factors to restore normal production levels.
Meanwhile, ceramics and porcelain prices are expected to stabilize, SCC added.
