Awards will be announced starting from the end of this year until the end of Q1 2019, the ministry said in a statement, adding that some projects will come online by the end of next year.

The planned projects will serve six cities, namely Dammam, Al-Khobar, Al-Qatif, Abaqiq, Al-Ahsa and Jubail.

They also include construction of large and medium-sized water tanks to improve operational storage levels and pumping stations, the extension of main transmission lines to connect new water sources with water tanks in the cities, and the extension of water distribution networks.

The first phase of designs was completed as scheduled, the statement added
