A fire broke out at the National Petrochemical Industrial Co.’s (NATPET) plant in Yanbu Tuesday evening, killing one worker and injuring 11 others, local media has reported.
Alujain Corp., which owns 57 percent of NATPET, confirmed the fire in a statement to the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul).
The fire is now under control after accident teams were deployed to the site, the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu (RCJY) said on its Twitter account.
The Royal Commission’s environmental monitoring and protection teams are also testing and monitoring the air quality in nearby residential and industrial areas, it added.
