SAPTCO’s alliance bags SAR 8.5 bln contract for Riyadh Metro

Saudi Public Transport Co.’s (SAPTCO) alliance with France's RATP DEV has jointly won a SAR 8.53 billion contract to operate and maintain Riyadh Metro’s first and second routes from Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA).

 

RATP DEV owns an 80 percent stake in the consortium, SAPTCO said in a bourse statement on Monday.

 

Under the deal, the work scope includes preparation works, train operation, station management along with maintenance of trains and other facilities.

 

The alliance will also operate and maintain 40 stations, in addition to four bus parking lots with a capacity ranging between 400 and 600 buses.

 

SAPTCO and RATP are required to Saudize a minimum of 45 percent of jobs in the project and commit to a minimum local content at 55 percent, the statement added.

 

Riyadh Metro’s first blue line has a total length of 38 kilometers and 25 stations. The second red line, which runs along King Abdullah Road, is 25 km-long and has 15 stations.
