Saudi Arabia’s $500 billion NEOM project has begun environmental, geological, and archaeological surveys “to ensure that the execution of any future construction is well-planned and sustainable,” according to the project’s official Twitter account.
NEOM recently received bids for the construction of accommodation and offices for the project’s engineers and supervisors.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman unveiled the $500 billion project in October last year. NEOM is backed by the Kingdom’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) as well as local and international investors.
Infrastructure works have already started and the first phase is expected to be completed by 2025.
