Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Labor and Social Development will limit four types of retail jobs to nationals, starting Sept. 11.

The decision covers jobs at car and motorbike shops, men’s and children’s wear, home and office furniture, and home utensils, the ministry said in a statement.

“The move will provide job opportunities for Saudi citizens, and enhance their participation in the private sector,” the statement added.

A committee was formed of representatives from the labor ministry, the Human Resources Development Fund (HADAF) and Social Development Bank to develop a program for Saudization enablers.

The Ministry had earlier issued a directive limiting 12 jobs at various shops to Saudi nationals, starting from the new Hijri year, Argaam reported.

Saudization at shops selling electronic and electric appliances, watches and eyeglasses will come into effect on Nov. 9, 2018.

The Kingdom will also nationalize jobs at medical equipment, building materials, car spare parts, carpets and rugs, and confectionary shops starting Jan. 7, 2019.
