Assets of Saudi investment funds slip 1% in Q2

The total value of assets held by investment funds in Saudi Arabia edged down 1 percent quarter-on-quarter (QoQ) to SAR 119.06 billion in Q2 2018, data issued by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) showed.

 

The drop came due to a 39 percent QoQ fall in the total value of foreign assets to SAR 15.2 billion, despite a 9 percent QoQ rise in local assets to SAR 103.8 billion.

Assets held by investment funds include local and foreign stocks, bonds, real estate investments and other assets.

 

The number of investment funds operating in the Kingdom stood at 264 in Q2 2018, compared to 262 funds in the previous quarter and 273 funds at the end of 2017.

 

The number of subscribers jumped to 311,200 for the second quarter, from 238,400 at the end of 2017. Since 2005, the total number of subscribers fell 45 percent.
