India’s commerce ministry has scrapped an anti-dumping duty on caustic soda produced by Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC), official news agency SPA reported on Thursday.
The Indian authorities cited that there is no negative impact from these imports amid improved local industries in the Asian country.
On Dec. 1, 2000, India had launched investigations on its imports of caustic soda. In June 2001, the Asian country imposed anti-dumping duties of $130.60 per ton.
It maintained these duties in the second review conducted in Sept. 2011.
In November 2017, SABIC submitted the required documents and managed to cut the anti-dumping duties to $16.24 per ton.
