Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC) will cooperate with four other state-run entities to set up facilities to service electric vehicles, Al-Eqtisadiah reported, citing Saud Al-Askar, deputy governor of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO).
The other four government entities are SASO; the Electricity and Cogeneration Regulatory Authority (ECRA); the Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources; and the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs.
Only individuals can currently import electric vehicles, as the regulations pertaining to companies and import agencies are now being finalized.
In January, SASO said it had approved a blueprint for regulations surrounding the use of electric vehicles in the Kingdom.
