Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) has retained position as the world’s fifth biggest sovereign fund with a net worth of $494 billion, SWF Institute’s June 2018 data showed.
Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) also maintained its 12th spot with assets valued at $250 billion. PIF had announced plans to increase its total assets to $400 billion (SAR 1.5 trillion) by the end of 2020.
Norway’s Government Pension Fund topped the list of largest Sovereign wealth funds in the world with assets standing at $1.035 trillion.
China Investment Corporation (CIC) climbed to the second place by $941.4 billion worth of assets followed by Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) with $683 billion worth of assets.
The combined assets of all sovereign funds under study amounted to $7.88 trillion by the end of June 2018, with Saudi Arabia and UAE accounting for 9.4 and 15.2 percent of total assets, respectively.
