Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC) has inked an agreement with a local firm to install smart meters across the Kingdom over the coming two months, the utility provider said in a statement.
A total of 2.5 million smart meters will be initially installed across the Kingdom within the coming three years.
The smart meters are slated to be fully installed over the coming five years in both residential, commercial and industrial units.
“Smart meters will regulate consumption patterns, save energy, reduce power wastage, while delivering improvements in system stability, reliability and transparency,” the statement added.
