Mashroat, the Saudi national program that supervises project implementation in government entities, is planning to conduct a comprehensive restructuring of the project management functions in public entities, Director General Ahmed Albalawi told Okaz newspaper.
Albalawi said the project management function in government entities do lack required expertise and qualifications, citing instances where low-quality construction and building materials were used to execute projects to the detriment of quality standards.
The top official said a revamp of project management capabilities at government bodies can save up to SAR 50 billion a year, reduce risks, cut expenses, and eliminate delays.
The National Program to Support the Management of Projects in Public Entities (Mashroat) was established in 2015 to help upgrade the quality standards of project execution in government entities.
