Dubai-based Majid Al Futtaim, which owns Vox Cinemas, will open its second multiplex in Saudi Arabia at the Riyadh Front lifestyle development, the firm said in a statement on Tuesday.
The new multiplex, set to open in early 2019, will feature 18 screens.
“This second location for VOX Cinemas and Magic Planet in Riyadh will be a flagship, as we continue to roll out our ambitious expansion plan for the Kingdom,” Cameron Mitchell, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Cinemas, said in the statement.
He added that the feedback from the company’s first multiplex and Magic Planet in the Kingdom was “exceptional.”
The Riyadh Front multiplex will bring VOX Cinemas’ signature experiences to the Kingdom, including the mega-screen MAX, KIDS and luxury cinema concept THEATRE by Rhodes.
Vox Cinemas announced a number of new launches in the Kingdom soon after Saudi Arabia lifted its 35-year-old ban on cinemas earlier this year. The group plans to open 600 screens in the next five years in the country.
In June, Majid Al Futtaim opened its first Magic Planet entertainment center in Saudi Arabia.
The developer of shopping malls has also announced its plans to invest a total of SAR 16 billion across its portfolio of shopping malls, fashion, leisure and retail projects in the Kingdom.
