Saudi Arabia’s Citizen’s Account program said on its Twitter account that the subsidy provided to citizens includes the increase in fuel and electricity prices after their correction.
The allowance is not tied to the seasons of the year, but is based on criteria that include the number of family members, their ages and their income, it said.
The monetary support also includes the impact of the value-added tax (VAT) on foods and beverages, the program said, adding that it covers the indirect impact of the Kingdom’s economic reforms.
In December 2017, the Saudi cabinet approved the Citizen’s Account program, aimed at easing the impact of subsidy cuts and new taxes on low and middle-income families in the Kingdom.
