New contractor category system to end project delays

The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs plans to launch a new contractor category system aiming to end stalling projects, Al-Watan newspaper reported, citing Fahad Al-Nasban, head of the national contractors’ commission at the Council of Saudi Chambers.

The new categorization system will fix previous mistakes, including choosing the wrong companies that are not capable of completing development projects, he said.

Through the new categorization, service efficiency will be raised in order to expand the network of competent firms able to implement the projects, as well as a larger base of excellent contractors that meet the requirements, especially the legal ones, he added.
