Saudi Customs Authority (SCA) has awarded a $100 million enterprise project management office (EPMO) contract to US-based Aecom, MEED reported, citing sources.
The SCA is among the 50 ministries and government entities that have been mandated to set up a project management office (PMO) to be overseen by the National Project, O&M Management Organization (Mashroat).
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Transport has recently invited firms to bid by August 5 for the contract to establish its PMO. Other transport-related entities such as the General Authority for Civil Aviation, Saudi Ports Authority, and Saudi Railways Organization are also planning to establish PMOs, it added.
Separately, the Ministry of Electricity and Water, Riyadh Municipality, the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, and Ministry of Interior are also planning large PMOs.
In February 2017, US firm Bechtel was appointed to support setting up and operating Mashroat, which was set up by the Ministry of Economy and Planning in 2015 to help the government agencies deliver complex infrastructure projects.
