07/05/2018 Argaam

Saudi energy minister Khalid Al-Falih discussed renewable energy projects in the Kingdom with Masayoshi Son, chairman and CEO of Softbank Vision Fund, Okaz newspaper reported.

In March, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Japan's SoftBank announced plans to build the world’s biggest solar power generation project in the Kingdom.

The world’s top oil exporter is increasing focus on renewable energy sources as it looks to diversify its energy mix and economy.

Under the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP), Saudi Arabia is targeting 9.5 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy by 2023, with an interim target of 3.45 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2020.
