Saudi Arabia and France signed an agreement today to set up a national orchestra and opera house, French Culture Minister Françoise Nyssen told the press today.
"Today an agreement was signed with the Paris Opera to help Saudi Arabia set up a national orchestra and an opera," she said on Monday after signing the deal with her Saudi counterpart, Awwad Alawwad.
Alawwad has signed several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) focusing on literature, music, arts and the movies industry with French representatives in Paris, according to the Saudi Center for International Communication.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is currently visiting France, where he met with French President Emmanuel Macron and signed a number of cooperation agreements. The Crown Prince is accompanied by a high-profile Saudi delegation that includes Alawwad.
