Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) has started commercial operations at its methyl methacrylate monomer (MMA) and poly methyl methacrylate (PMMA) plants today, the Kingdom’s largest petrochemicals producer said in a bourse filing.
The relevant financial impact will appear on the company’s Q2 2018 earnings.
In 2014, SABIC’s Saudi Methacrylates Company (SAMAC) entered into strategic partnership with Mitsubishi Rayon worth SAR 1.35 billion to build and operate two manufacturing plants (MMA and PMMA) in Jubail Industrial City.
The MMA plant has an output capacity of 250,000 tonnes per year, while the PMMA plant has an output capacity at 40,000 tonnes per year.
