The Saudi transport ministry is planning to award contracts of new and stalled projects to efficient contractors, regardless of the low-bid selection method, and in line with the contractor classification standards, the ministry’s spokesman, Turki Al Toaimi, told Okaz newspaper.
The ministry is currently finalizing the paperwork required for tendering and awarding the projects.
Meanwhile, legal procedures will be strictly applied to distressed contracting firms, to ensure fulfillment of construction conditions with high quality, Al Toaimi said.
The transport ministry is taking into account road safety under certain schedules for implementing various projects, and will mandate Saudi engineers to supervise site activities, he added.
