Haramain high-speed rail has started on Thursday a trial two-way trip between Makkah and Madinah, Mohammad Feda, the project's general manager at the Saudi Railway Co. (SAR) said in a statement on Thursday.
The rail project will begin commercial operation once safety and operational requirements are fulfilled.
The 450-kilometer long railway links the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah via Jeddah and King Abdullah Economic City of Rabigh, Argaam earlier reported.
