The Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) has completed 12 projects, worth SAR 721 million, in the port of Dhiba on the northern Red Sea coast, the Kingdom’s information ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.
"The projects aim at making Saudi ports unique," Msaed bin Abdulrahman Al-Drees, spokesman for Mawani, said in the statement.
He revealed that the SAR 327-million container-handling station at Dhiba port is scheduled to be completed by end-March. It will have a 550-metre long and 15-metre deep wharf and handle 500,000 standard containers per year.
Mawani’s new projects will strengthen logistical and operational capabilities of Saudi ports and increase their competitiveness, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 plan, the statement said.
