As many as 10 local and international companies have expressed their interest in taking part in Al-Faisaliah project in Makkah even before the tender, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
Governor of Makkah Prince Khaled Al-Faisal chaired on Tuesday the first meeting of the project in Jeddah. He said that an “Islamic center” should be included in the project’s first phase, without mentioning the role of the center or its objectives.
Phase one should also include a governmental complex, waterfront, logistics area, diplomatic neighborhood, and the development of Al Laith Road, he added.
Al-Faisaliah is located in the west of Makkah and extends to the Red Sea.
The project will provide headquarters for all government agencies in Makkah.
It includes seven phases that encompass an airport, a port and a number of touristic and entertainment projects. The project is scheduled to be finished by 2050.
