Clariant Masterbatches opens production site in Yanbu

25/01/2018 Argaam

Clariant Masterbatches Saudi Arabia, a joint venture between National Industrialization Co. (Tasnee) and Clariant Switzerland, recently opened a masterbatch plant in Yanbu, the Swiss company said in a statement.

The new site has been built on a 38,000 square meters property in Yanbu Industrial Zone 2 and will focus on the production of white masterbatches.

The location provides easy access to key raw materials, the statement said.

The plant will allow the company to expand its footprint in Saudi Arabia and the MENA region, with connectivity enhanced by a nearby port and airport, the statement added.

The Yanbu site is Clariant Masterbatches’ second manufacturing hub in Saudi Arabia, supplementing an existing site in Riyadh.

Tasnee acquired a 40 percent stake in Clariant Saudi Arabia Ltd. in 2013 through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Al Rowad National Plastics Ltd.

Clariant Saudi Arabia started construction of the masterbatches plant in Yanbu in February 2016.
